At the age of fifteen I believed I knew how the world worked. I had many great people in my life and to me it seemed like nothing could ever go wrong. My parents had been married for over twenty years, my best friends parents had also been together more than twenty years, and my family was a good Christian family. To me everything was perfectly fine; yeah my grandpa and grandma were divorced but I still didn’t fully understand what that meant. I knew they had, had problems in their relationship but my ignorance kept me from understanding just how big of a problem it was that they were divorced. Sure my parents had arguments, but what family didn’t? Even my best friend, Joe’s parents had arguments, but wasn’t that normal? In my heart I just knew that my parents would never separate and Joe felt the same way about his. Our lives were perfect and never once did we see ourselves coming down. It was a crisp summer morning and I awoke to begin my day. Usually I would go out to Joe’s farm and work with him, but today I had to stay home to help with chores and things.
